The Thomas Paine Project is dedicated to the notion that the Bill of Rights are our nation’s Ten Commandments of Freedom, As such, they should be regarded as inviolate. You don’t bend them, tweak them or ignore them for a little while.
When presidents, politicians and police officers enter into public service, they swear an oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”
Unfortunately, few politicians — including our president — and even fewer police officers honor that oath. Today government officials, who are sworn to protect the Constitution and serve the public, are actively engaged in the destruction our civil liberties.
The Bill of Rights is the only protection “we the people” have against the excesses of an abusive government. There are no Constitutional Police. It is the responsibility of you, me and people like us to defend our civil liberties.
There is no compromise, no middle ground, and no wiggle room. You either stand up and speak out in defense of the Bill of Rights or you keep your head down, your mouth shut, and you bolster the ranks of its enemies.
Whose side are you on?
